Golden Retriever Dark Gold. Golden Retriever coats are water repellent and can range in shades from dark gold gold or light gold. Our breeding is exclusively dedicated to the Rustic Golden Retriever.
The dark Golden retriever is more compact and lean with a thicker skin than other colors of Goldens. They have feathers on the back of the front legs and beneath with heavier feathers on the chest back of the thighs and tail. Dark Golden Retrievers have the darkest shade of gold.
Despite these dogs having 5 colors not all are officially recognized as a standard color by the American Kennel Club.
Golden Retrievers can be found to come in three general colors. Since the dark colored Golden Retriever was bred as a hunting dog their physique is more compact and leaner. Despite being a purebred Golden Retriever dark haired Golden Retrievers are not allowed to compete in kennel club shows because of their color. You wont have much trouble training a dark coat retriever.
